Kaylyn 3 months | Ruston LA Baby Photographer

Oh Kaylyn what a cutie!! I have a soft spot for babies with full cheeks, I mean isn’t it just the cutest to see a baby with fluffy cheeks!? It may also be that my own little girl had cheeks like this and I miss those baby smiles she used to give me. I remember when my own little girl was born, she looked like an enormous baby but in reality she was a average sized baby girl at 7lb 3oz. But her cheeks made her seem like a weighty baby. My mom used to say she had “a pound in each cheek”. I think the same might be true for Kaylyn here too and I’m digging going down memory lane with her pictures.

You know there are many photographers who do not offer 3 month sessions and I gotta admit I entertained the idea of removing them from my standard package, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on that. The reason it’s such a debated topic among photographers is because 3 months motor skills wise, just not too much going on. We got tummy time and some babies hate it and could care less to do it. Personality showing through isn’t at its height, if at all. And besides lying on their back, you just don’t have a variety of poses. It’s just the cards we’ve been given. But I remember with my own little girl, how much she changed in her facial features from newborn to 3 months and how thankful I was to have that change photographed so I could remember the leap she made. So I continue to offer 3 months sessions to this day. Some babies change very little in facial features but some change drastically in personality. Some are vice versa and some don’t seem to change at all. Never the less, it’s a milestone all the same. So be aware 3 month sessions aren’t a pile of poses, but they are memories of the changes they’ve grown into with perhaps a few personality shots in between.

Kaylyn was the exception to the rule! She came out guns a blazing, showing off her personality in full swing. It took her a minute to warm up, as to be expected with younger babies (they get distracted very easily). But once she was ready for lights and action, she threw it on thick. She has the cutest little smile and she smiles with her eyes too. How many times do I try to tell people to “smile with their eyes” during a session. Too many to count. It sounds ridiculous if you’ve never realized what that means but you quickly figure out that look when you photograph people. When in doubt, smile with your eyes makes it more natural. You can go practice in the mirror now.

And if you needed a reminder of how cruel time is, you can see the change in Kaylyn from her newborn session to now. It goes by quick. It’s hard to enjoy the moments sometimes from the busyness of life, but try to take it all in. Thanks for coming see me sweet girl!
