Cullen | RUSTON LA NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Oh how exciting to have this little boy in my studio. This coronavirus closure was tough for me. I’m not talking about the money and having a tight budget, but honestly I was heartbroken at having to turn away several people who had just had babies and wanting to document these fleeting moments. I’m a very sentimental person. I’ve gotten people in last minute because I can’t stand to think they may not get their baby’s pictures done because they can’t find someone last minute. I’m not a saint, I just am drawn to the sentimental. Cullen’s momma contacted me and was nervous to get pictures done during the pandemic, but since the reopening phases she decided to ask so she wouldn’t lose those memories. Here’s the catch, he was already 2 months old. I have never posed a two month old baby and honestly I can’t in good conscience take someone’s money to shoot a 2 month old in poses because I know they won’t be able to pose like the client is expecting. But when Amber asked me and I knew she hadn’t gotten any pictures of him because of the pandemic, my heart was torn. So I told her I would give it a shot and we did it like a newborn mini session which only has 2-3 poses. I knew at his age and size, he wouldn’t be super curly anymore. He’s been out of the womb too long and learned how great stretching out is now. I already had the poses I thought he would do planned out. I couldn’t have ever dreamed how perfect he would be for me. I figured even if he did well, he would require a lot of patience because he would be more aware of me moving him around and an unending cycle of waking him up. Well I’ll be the first to say I was dead wrong, because he slept through every pose. I was stunned and thankful, very very thankful!

His momma had also mentioned Cullen was a rainbow baby. This term has circulated for so long that I’m sure it needs not to be explained, but for those who don’t know a rainbow baby is a baby that comes after a miscarriage. Much like a rainbow, it comes after a storm which anyone who has had to experience a miscarriage will attest it is most definitely a storm to row a boat through. His big sister had been praying for a sibling and lo and behold God was gracious to answer her prayer. We know as Job said “God gives and God takes away, blessed me the name of The Lord”, and praise His holy name for such a blessing He has given! Thank you God for this little blessing, may your name be glorified because of his story.
