Spring brought the most beautiful setting for Connor’s seasonal mini session! His mom had purchased our Bud to Bloom package — a perfect choice for families wanting to document their little one’s first year. The package includes a mini session that can be used for maternity or a seasonal milestone session, and Mom chose to celebrate springtime with a photo shoot among the blooming lakespurs at Squire Creek. These wildflowers are a local favorite and never disappoint — their vivid blues and purples make the most stunning natural backdrop. I was so thrilled when she suggested the location!
Big sister joined in for a few photos and absolutely stole the show. She’s clearly a natural in front of the camera, striking sweet poses with barely any direction — you could tell she’s done this before! Connor, on the other hand, had his own agenda. While he’s usually all smiles in the studio, the lakespurs were just too fascinating for him. He was far more interested in trying to taste the flowers than in flashing his signature grin. His mom was a little nervous we didn’t catch many smiles from him, but she was so relieved — and a little amazed — when she saw just how quickly we were able to freeze his sweet expressions in the few moments he looked up.
I absolutely loved the mix of soft pastels and rich floral hues that the spring colors brought to this session. It was such a lovely reminder of how special these milestone mini sessions can be, and I’m so grateful to Connor’s mom for thinking of the lakespurs as our setting.
