Harper came to see me this past Thursday for her newborn session and what a cutie she was. She had quite a bit of hair, full cheeks and lips. I’m kind of a sucker for full cheeks <3 my little girl came out with full cheeks too and I think it’s what made her so adorable!
We’ve been anticipating Harper’s arrival for quite some time since Amy booked the session early in her pregnancy, which by the way is the way to schedule, making sure you get a guaranteed appointment.
This lil nugget here was a champ for the first half of her session. It was like I wasn’t even there. She posed perfectly, didn’t move when I would place headbands and hats on her. I got to use a lot of my favorite accessories on her since she was so sleepy. I mean when I’ve invested so much into props, you better believe I’m super excited to use them all and she didn’t disappoint!
And then Harper got hungry and she had no interest in modeling for me anymore. But of course during every newborn session we allowed time for baby to eat and rest so we breaked for a bottle and some snuggle time so she could relax in between sets. So sweet holding those babies, makes me remember how small my girl was. It’s crazy how fast you can forget. I mean you always hear people warning you of how fast the time passes when you have kids, but you never truly know. After becoming a newborn and kid photographer, that phenomenon has become real to me. Not only do I get to see my own child grow but I also see my client’s children grow at rapid rates too.
So please, STOP and tell the story to your kids, stop doing the dishes and start playing dress up, stop folding clothes and start rocking your baby just a little longer. I’m preaching to the choir here. I get caught up in the day to day things all the things. I have things that pull for my attention constantly and I have to remember to stop myself and play. But it’s so important.
After our break, Harper was wide-eyed and awake. But I’m a fighter, I’m one who doesn’t quit so we worked tirelessly to get those last few poses and while I had to step a little lighter we got every pose with this girl and I call that a win! Every pose for a newborn session can be quite tricky but if parents are diligent in following the instructions I give them before they come it happens more often than not.
And how cute is this little LSU fan? She doesn’t know it yet, but her parents are quite the LSU and Saints fans and she’ll learn to follow suit herself before too long. GO TIGERS!
