A Dream 12 Years in the Making | Baby Jase’s Newborn Session

Some sessions are extra special, and this one? This one has been on my heart for 12 years.

Welcoming baby Jase into my studio was more than just a newborn session—it was the fulfillment of over a decade of hope, prayers, and faith. Jase is the baby of my very best friend, Chelsea. We’ve done so much life together, and for as long as I can remember, we’ve dreamed of raising our babies side-by-side.

Years ago, Chelsea and I both hoped to start our families around the same time. My journey to motherhood had its delays, but eventually I was blessed with my baby girl. Chelsea’s story, however, took a much longer, harder path. She has been walking the road of infertility ever since.

Infertility is a silent kind of pain—a lonely road filled with doctor appointments, dashed hopes, and aching prayers. It’s the kind of journey that tests everything: your patience, your heart, and your faith. I’ve watched my dear friend navigate this path with a strength and grace that only God could have given her.

Chelsea and her husband, Alan, eventually turned to IVF. But as many know, that road doesn’t guarantee a baby, and the emotional toll is immense. After years of heartbreak, last year they felt God gently lead them toward adoption. And through that step of faith, their baby boy Jase entered their lives.

From the moment they laid eyes on him, he was theirs. He didn’t grow under Chelsea’s heart, but he was always meant to be in it. Their connection was instant, deep, and divinely timed.

Jase was born very prematurely, and with that came a whole new season of waiting, watching, and praying. There were moments of uncertainty, but through every up and down, God was so present. He carried Jase, Chelsea, and Alan through. And now, here he is—three (almost four!) months old, healthy, thriving, and oh-so-loved.

Because Jase was a preemie, his milestones are a bit delayed—which, for me as a newborn photographer, actually worked in our favor. Even though he’s technically out of the typical “newborn” window, we were still able to pose him in those classic sleepy newborn styles. It wasn’t without its challenges, but let me tell you: Jase rocked his session.

He showed up with the sweetest spirit and the curliest dark hair that made me swoon the entire time. There’s just something about his little presence that fills a room.

At one point during the session, I was busy photographing sweet Jase when Chelsea—being her sneaky self—stole my phone. I didn’t notice a thing until later that night, scrolling through my photos, when I found images she had taken of me capturing her son.

Looking back on those images and that entire session, I was overwhelmed. Seeing Chelsea and Alan finally holding their baby boy—their baby boy—was emotional beyond words.

God heard every prayer. Every tear. Every late-night cry. And in His perfect timing, He answered.

Baby Jase, you are a miracle. You were waited for, hoped for, and prayed over for so long. And now, you are finally home.

Welcome to the world, sweet boy. You are so loved.
