When sweet baby Olivia came in for her newborn mini session, the first thing I noticed was her head of hair—it was absolutely adorable and sticking straight up! I gave it a little spritz of my trusty “Noodle and Boo” hair polish to try and tame it down, but true to her spunky little self, it slowly popped right back up. In the end, it was too cute to fight, and I think her wild hair added the perfect touch of personality to her photos. Olivia had such a calm presence during the session, and that little tuft of hair made every shot even more special.
Olivia’s mom chose the newborn mini session with the family picture option, which I always love because it allows for capturing those early moments of connection with the newest family member. Big sister Sophia was all about the camera! She loved posing with Olivia and had such a natural confidence in front of the lens. At one point, she suggested a pose with “the girls together,” and I have to say—it was a fantastic idea. The bond between the two girls was already so strong and it showed in every frame. Sophia’s joyful energy brought a playful warmth to the entire session.
Now, there was one member of the family who wasn’t quite as thrilled with the “family photo” idea—big brother Grayson. I’ve actually had the chance to photograph Grayson before during his school pictures, and let’s just say he was not a fan of the camera then either. That day, just like this one, he was overwhelmed and unhappy to be in the spotlight. And honestly, I completely understood. I was the same way as a kid—hating attention, dreading picture day, and feeling like it was just too much. My heart really went out to him. I know Mom and Dad were probably hoping for that sweet, picture-perfect smile, but what they got instead was something real. These photos are an honest little time capsule of who Grayson is at this stage, and that authenticity is something to treasure.
I truly loved the images we created during Olivia’s session—Grayson hiding and all. There’s something so special about documenting a family just as they are in this moment, with all their personalities shining through. If you’re expecting a little one and would love timeless, heartfelt images like these, you can book a newborn mini session (family option or baby by themselves!) You can check out details of that session with pricing HERE. I’d be honored to help you capture your own beautiful memories.
