Baylee reached out to me during her pregnancy, which is truly the best time to book your maternity and newborn photographer. Booking while you’re still expecting guarantees a spot on my calendar once your baby arrives, and it takes so much stress off your plate during those final weeks. As a Ruston, Louisiana maternity photographer, I always encourage expecting moms to plan ahead so their session feels relaxed, intentional, and beautifully documented from the very beginning of this season.

Baylee chose my “Seedling to Bud” package (https://lavenderharvestphoto.com/maternitynewborn-pkg/), which is perfect for moms who want a cohesive maternity and newborn experience. I absolutely loved her brown dress—it complemented her skin tone so beautifully and photographed like a dream. Soft, earthy tones are always a favorite of mine for maternity photos because they create a timeless, organic look that allows mom to truly shine.

Big brother Brantley wasn’t quite ready to jump into pictures right away, so we started with mom and dad first—and that worked out perfectly. We focused on single maternity poses of Baylee to show off her beautiful baby bump and incorporated some soft foliage for an extra dreamy touch. Of course, we also captured mom and dad together, creating genuine connection and emotion. Even when couples already have children, I always love photographing them alone—it keeps a beautiful tradition going and gives families something special to compare as their family grows over the years.

Once we brought Brantley in, he was stuck to mom like glue—and I wasn’t surprised at all. During booking, I send out a detailed questionnaire to get to know each family, their personalities, and their vision for the session. Baylee had mentioned that Brantley was very shy, and I love having that insight ahead of time. I’m a big kid at heart and often interact with kids more than adults to help them loosen up, but with shy little ones, patience and parent interaction are key. With time, reassurance, and lots of love from mom and dad, Brantley slowly started to relax and gave us a few sweet smiles.

Overall, we captured some truly lovely images of Baylee and her beautiful family during such an exciting chapter. These are the moments that make maternity photography so meaningful—preserving connection, anticipation, and love before baby arrives. If you’re expecting and searching for a maternity photographer in Ruston, Louisiana or the surrounding areas, I would love to work with you.
