Crew | Ruston LA Cakesmash Photographer

Oh my goodness, give me some butter for those rolls! I can’t help it when I see a fluffy baby, they are just the cutest things. I remember meeting Crew in December when he came to visit Santa at our “Claus with a Cause” charity event at Social Bites. I remembered how cute he was when he came then and how he did NOT like Santa. Even his crying face was cute. Shocker: he wasn’t the only one who didn’t like Santa. But today he didn’t have the stress of meeting the big guy in red and so he was in much better spirits this time around.

I would call my style for cakesmash sessions, simplistic. It’s sounds boring but it’s the best word I can think to describe it. It’s taken years for me to figure out my exact style but now that I’ve got a definite way to set up these sessions, I try to work it into all of my cakesmashes. When Crew’s momma contacted me, I didn’t have to explain my style at all, her vision aligned seamlessly with my own and I immediately was crazy about it. She explained it “I want a woodland theme but more neutrals instead of bold colors”. She had me hooked on that and I was excited to make whatever I needed to achieve that vision. I made a little tee-pee and painted a calligraphed a stump piece I had stashed away. The rest of the props I had on hand because I actually am drawn to woodland pieces, it was just a matter of making it all flow. I had purchased his romper thinking it was more of a brown than an orange but once he wore it with the set, it was the perfect pop of color to finish it out. It was just a huge coincidence that Heather at Social Bites of Ruston made macarons the same color to top off the cake.

Crew really did well. He wasn’t a huge eater but he really enjoyed just sitting there smashing his cake. But like many cakesmash sessions, sometimes it ends in a few tears to hint at us that they’re finished and having no more of it. Seriously I love that little lip poking out, even crying babies are cute.

It didn’t take long for Crew to feel better once we pulled out the washtub. Even the most tired babies love the washtub. Give a place to splash and a couple toys and they’re happy as can be. I so enjoyed photographing Crew! Come see me again lil dude!
