Courville Family’s Beautiful Adoption Session

When Kara first spotted my flyer at the Kool Kids Consignment sale, she was nearing the final stages of adopting sweet Ellie. She reached out with the hope of documenting this momentous occasion, and I was so honored to be part of such a milestone for their family. We decided to shoot in Ruston, and though the Louisiana heat was out in full force, it was one of those days where the light made everything glow beautifully.

As Kara and her husband helped Ellie change into her dress, we chatted about how they hadn’t had professional pictures taken since their wedding many years ago. It’s a conversation I have often with families—life gets busy, and it can be hard to pause and make time for photos. That’s why sessions like these feel so meaningful. They remind us all of the importance of stopping, even just for an afternoon, to capture the moments that tell our family’s story.

Ellie was full of joy during her session. She radiated happiness, and it was so natural to capture the bond she shares with her parents. Every laugh, every glance, and every sweet smile told the story of belonging and love. Adoption has such a unique beauty—the connection between birth mom and adoptive parents is layered with sacrifice, hope, and deep love. The Courville family embodied all of that, and it was such a gift to photograph their journey.

Being able to document the Courvilles’ adoption story reminded me once again why I love what I do.
