Tiny Jet Takes Flight

Baby Jase’s 8-month milestone session was such a special one for me. I’ve had the joy of photographing him since his newborn session, and it’s amazing to see how much he has grown. Because Jase was born very premature, his little body has been working extra hard to catch up on development outside the womb. Premature babies often hit traditional milestones like tummy time, sitting up, or crawling later than their peers, but they’re still right on track for themselves. Every baby’s journey is different, and watching Jase continue to grow reminds me of another NICU baby I photographed years ago who blossomed into a thriving, happy child. These little ones are truly fighters.

When Chelsea brought Jase in for his milestone session, we had such fun picking through outfits together. One of my favorite finds was a cute airplane outfit that had been waiting in my collection for the right moment. It was a perfect fit—not just in size but in meaning—because Jase’s initials spell “JET,” a nickname his mom has been considering. Of course, we had to use it! Still, I think my favorite look from the session was a rich green outfit that complemented his beautiful skin tone so well. He looked so handsome and grown up in it, even though he’s still my serious little guy.

Jase may not be a fan of tummy time just yet (and honestly, who can blame him?), but he was happy to relax on his back and let us capture some sweet, laid-back poses. We made sure to take a few headshots too, showing off his amazing hair. I can’t help but wonder if it will stay soft and relaxed or curl up into tight little spirals as he grows. Either way, it’s going to be adorable. While he wasn’t overly smiley during his session, the few grins he did flash were priceless—and they showed us that serious Jase has a silly side too.

Sessions like these are exactly why I love what I do. Watching babies grow, celebrating their progress, and capturing their unique journeys is such an honor. Jase, Aunt Catrina loves you so much, and I can’t wait to photograph you for years to come!
