Indigo’s Newborn Mini Session
Every once in a while, a session comes along that feels extra special—and baby Indigo’s newborn mini session was just that! She happened to be born on my birthday, which instantly made us birthday buddies. While I had some availability that week, I’ll admit I was especially eager to get her in the studio because of that fun little connection. Photographing babies is always a joy, but sharing a birthday with one makes it feel even more meant to be.
When Indigo’s mom arrived, I noticed she wasn’t alone. As soon as I saw her cousin, I realized I had photographed her baby in the past! That little one was Dru, and now he’s a big kid. Seeing him again brought back memories of those newborn days, and it was such a sweet reminder of how fast children grow. Watching families come back through my doors, seeing new siblings and cousins added to the story, is one of my favorite parts of being a newborn photographer near Ruston, Louisiana.

Indigo herself was such a sweetheart, though she wasn’t the biggest fan of posing. Not every baby melts into each pose easily, and that’s completely normal—each little one has their own personality right from the start. We worked with gentle swaddles, soft blankets, and simple posing techniques that allowed her to feel secure while still giving us those dreamy newborn photos that every parent treasures. Even when babies resist, we find ways to capture those precious details—tiny fingers, curled toes, and sweet little profiles.
Despite the challenges, Indigo’s gallery turned out absolutely adorable. Sometimes the sessions that feel the hardest end up producing the most cherished images because they highlight a baby’s individuality. Her soft expressions, paired with neutral wraps and a few delicate headbands from my studio collection, came together beautifully. I always remind parents that even a newborn mini session can provide a stunning variety of images without breaking the budget—perfect for families who want professional photos but are mindful of cost.
