Title: One Silly Goose Turns One!
Getting to photograph Mack’s cake smash session was such a special treat—not just because of the adorable “One Silly Goose” theme, but because I’ve had the joy of photographing his entire family through the years. From his newborn session to both his brother’s and sister’s newborn and cake smash photos, it’s been such a joy to watch this sweet family grow. Moments like this remind me why I do what I do and just how fast time flies.
Cake smash sessions are one of my favorite types to photograph because I get to let my hands-on, creative side shine. Each one starts with a simple idea—baby’s birthday theme—and from there, we build a set that reflects their milestone moment. I see a lot of repeat themes (like “Wild One” or “Berry First Birthday”), and while I try my best to make each one unique, it can be a challenge to keep them feeling fresh. That’s why it’s always exciting when a parent brings in a brand-new theme!

When Mack’s mom said she wanted to go with “One Silly Goose,” I was instantly on board. She shared a Pinterest board full of playful ideas and adorable touches, and I had so much fun researching and collecting the cutest little props and décor pieces. From a little goose on hay to soft blue accents, the set came together even better than I imagined. Mack came in all smiles, a little shy at first, but once the cake was in front of him, he truly embraced his “silly goose” role. He looked absolutely precious and did so well!
There’s something incredibly heartwarming about seeing these babies again at one year old—walking, giggling, and smashing cake like champs.
